SUPERHERO FUND

Bruno is a warrior or perhaps a true soccer champion, the kind who does not stop in the face of any adversity. Perhaps that favela in which he lived until 2016, that hostile environment of drugs, alcohol and violence tempered him and led him to be that child committed to his studies, with a locked hip and knee but with a big dream in the back of his mind...that of living a game of soccer.

Thanks to the "Superheroes" fund, Bruno will be our guest in November 2023 and will be able to experience an Italian league championship game, see a field hockey game, and touch snow.

Bruno's joy, born out of the knowledge that someone in the world wanted to make his dreams come true, initiated by the “Noi ci Siamo” association to create the "superheroes" fund so that this boy's smile could give birth to many scattered in every corner of the world.

Living with FOP all too often means giving up the pleasures of childhood and adolescence. There are many, too many, dreams that children with FOP must leave locked in a drawer. The horizon of a cure is still too far away to plan a life without constraints and denial. Added to the fear of trauma that could accelerate the course of the disease is the sad awareness of the inexorability of its progression.

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva knows no borders or social statuses, indiscriminately affecting one child in every 2 million without regard to whether the family's material conditions will be able to bear not only the burden of the disease but also the economic burden it entails. Thus, for many families in the world, it becomes not only difficult to access medical care and auxiliary supports but also to realize those little big dreams that could give a smile to children who, due to their FOP condition, live a difficult existence.

Experiencing a football game or the concert of one's favorite, seeing the sea or snow up close, spending a day at a big amusement park are just some of the examples of the dreams that children with FOP see fading before their eyes. Wishes that even if fulfilled would not change their condition but would allow them to say with confidence that "Yes, FOP is only a part of their life and not their life."
